1973-1977 - undergraduate studies in Agronomy, College of Agriculture, University of the Philippines
at Los Banos.

1979-1981 - undergraduate courses in Biology (Biolog-linjen), Stockholm University.

1992 - BA Social Sciences (major: Economic History; minor subjects: Political Science, Development Studies, Social Anthropology), University of Stockholm.

1993 - graduate D-Course in Economic History, Uppsala University.

1994 - formal admission into the doctoral programme, Dept. of Economic History, Stockholm University.

1993-1997 - research assistant, Seminar for Development Studies, Dept. of Government, Uppsala University.

1994-1998 - only part-time involvement in the depatment's research education programme (REP).

1998 - full-time involvement in REP. Recipient of one year SIDA-Sarec grant for archival and dissertational work.

1999-2001 (Spring) - only part-time involvement in REP. Teaching load: 5 unit undergraduate courses in Comparative Global Economic History & The Transnationalization of Criminality.

2001 (Fall) - 2004 (Spring) - resumption of full-time involvement in REP. Recipient of three consecutive annual research grants from Kinanders Foundation, University of Stockholm for completion of dissertational prject. Teaching load, supervisor and examiner on call for the following courses: 5 unit undergraduate courses in Comparative Global Economic History & The Transnationalization of Criminality.

2004 (Fall) - Sabbatical for completion of research project; temporary leave of absence from academic work. Projected resumption of work: 2007.
